FA100 is an advanced failover appliance with 8 analog ports and 2 E1/T1/BRI/Ethernet ports. It better protects against unpredictable problems that occur on the Asterisk PBX. It provides an effective way to back up the Asterisk PBX when an undesirable change is detected (often when Asterisk fails or the system is powered off). FA100 provides a reliable and flexible solution for the Asterisk PBX.

FA100 is controlled via an Asterisk-loaded module, res_failover.so. This module continuously sends the "running" signal to FA100 while Asterisk is running. As soon as Asterisk stops or system power is cut off, the module can no longer send the "running" signal to FA100, and it automatically switches to the backup phone.
